Formed 31 December 1966 by conversion of Regiments of the Home Counties Brigade into a large Regiment.

Companies: HQ Company at Canterbury. Formed
from 4th Battalion The Buffs (TA). D Company (Middlesex) at Hornsey
with Pltn at Edgware. Formed from 5th Battalion The Middlesex Regiment
(TA). 1 April 1971: 'B' Company formed
additional platoon at Deal; 8 October 1973: subtitles omitted, except for 'C' (Cinque Ports) Company. 1 April 1975: 'D' Company at
Hornsey transferred as 'B' Company 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion. 16 May 1988: Kingston platoon 'A'
Company transferred to 'D' Company 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion.
Formed 1 April 1971 with Headquarters at Wandsworth from cadres of 6th (T) Battalion The Queen's Regiment, 10th (T) Battalion The Queen's Regiment, The Greater London Regiment RA, The London and Kent Regiment RA and The Surrey Yeomanry. Companies retained their own badges. Companies: Battalion HQ (Queen's Surreys) at
Wandsworth. Formed from cadre 6th (T) Battalion The Queen's Regiment. B Battery (Greater London RA) at
Hackney. Formed from cadre The Greater London Regiment RA. 26 November 1972: Companies
rebadged.
Formed 1 April 1971 with Headquarters at Horsham from cadres of 6th (T), 7th (T), 8th (T) and 9th (T) Battalion The Queen's Regiment and elements 5th (Volunteer) Battalion. Companies:
Battalion HQ (Royal Sussex) at Horsham from cadres 8th (T) and 9th (T)
Battalion The Queen's Regiment. 'HQ' Company (Royal Sussex) started to form from end 1972. 8 October 1973: subtitles omitted.
Formed 1 April 1975 with Headquarters at Horsham by amalgamation of 6th (Volunteer) Battalion and 7th (Volunteer) Battalion. Companies: HQ Company at Horsham formed by redesignation of 'HQ' Company 7th Battalion. A Company at Farnham formed by redesignation of 'A' Company 7th Battalion. B Company at Hornsey with Pltn at Edgware formed by merger of 'D' Company 5th Battalion and 'A' Company 6th (Volunteer) Battalion. C Company at Crawley with Pltn at Haywards Heath formed by redesignation of 'C' Company 7th Battalion. D Company at Wandsworth, Camberwell and Sutton formed by amalgamation of 'HQ' Company, 'C' Battery and 'D' Battery 6th Battalion. Battle honours added as company subtitles later

from platoons old 'D' Company 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion and 'A'
Company 5th (Volunteer) Battalion. 9 September 1992: Battalion reorganised as 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment with part of 2nd Battalion The Wessex Regiment on a three rifle company basis: 'C' Company merged into 'HQ' Company; 'D' Company disbanded.
Formed 16 May 1988 with Headquarters at St John's Hill, Clapham, London belonging to both The Queen's Regiment and The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and taking precedence after 6th/7th (Volunteer) Battalion The Queen's Regiment. Companies: HQ (Gazala) Company at Battersea. A (Highwood) Company at Camberwell. Formed by
redesignation of 'D' Company 6th/7th Battalion. C (City of London) Company at Balham and St Mary Cray. Formed by redesignation of 'C' Company 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
